COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions
ARE YOU STILL PLANNING TO RUN PROGRAMS AS SCHEDULED?
This summer, children & teens will need summer camp more than ever. We are currently planning to run the summer programs as scheduled, with the exception of the first week of Day Camp (June 8-12), which has been cancelled. The first day of Day Camp is scheduled for Monday, June 15.
WHEN WILL CAMP KRESGE MAKE THE CALL TO CANCEL PROGRAMS?
At this time, we are planning to run camp as scheduled. If we are required to delay the start of camp, make changes to session dates, or cancel any programs, we will notify families as soon as we are able. Please check your email and our website/social media accounts frequently for updates.
WHAT IS INFLUENCING THE DECISION TO RUN CAMP AS SCHEDULED?
We are following all recommendations and guidelines mandated by the State of Pennsylvania, the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the American Camp Association (ACA).
WHAT IS THE REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY?
If camp runs as scheduled, refunds will not be issued for cancellations, inclement weather, or dismissal from camp. Refunds for medical reasons are considered with a note from an authorized medical professional.
If a program is canceled due to COVID-19, families will have the option to donate all or a portion of what they have paid to help campers who are less fortunate to afford the cost of camp, credit the amount to their account, to be used for any upcoming YMCA Camp Kresge or Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA program, or have the amount refunded.
WHAT IS CAMP KRESGE DOING TO ENSURE THE FACILITY IS SAFE?
The safety of our campers, families, and staff is the number one priority, so we are considering any potential risks that might be present during our camp programs. Our facility is currently closed to the public. We are increasing the number of hand washing stations and access to hand sanitizer, as well as continuing with proper cleaning schedules to ensure all program areas and supplies are properly sanitized.
IS CAMP KRESGE STILL REQUIRING A PHYSICAL TO ATTEND CAMP?
Yes, we are still requiring campers to have a physical signed by a doctor, completed within the last year.
For more information or any questions, please contact our camp office at (570) 443-2267 or send an email to our leadership team.
